Mill Creek Park Wiffleball Tournament Spring 2014 Draw

The first ever Mill Creek Park Wiffleball Tournament in the fall of 2013 was a definitive success.  With a field of 5 teams and a great group of guys, the initial installment was filled with excitement, drama and a lot of fun.  Eventual tournament champions, The Dewskis, earned their title without a single loss, a feat that will be terribly difficult to duplicate this go around as we welcome 8 teams into the mix.  In addition to the bump in teams, a second field will also be included in the Spring 2014 Tournament to accommodate the growing competition.

Similar to the Fall 2013 games, the Spring 2014 Tournament will feature one group comprised of all teams.  Each team will participate in a 6 game round-robin first round to determine the top 4 teams that will advance to the semi-finals.  With 8 teams and just 6 games for each, there will be one team that is not faced during round-robin play.  This is the reason for the Spring 2014 Tournament draw.  The draw will place each of the 8 teams in order from 1-8, determining the overall schedule for the day as well as which teams will not play each other during the round-robin.  Additionally, with the 2 fields, the schedule has been arranged to maintain a competitive balance.  Each team will play 3 games on each field along with each team being the 'home' team 3 times and the 'away' team 3 times.  At the conclusion of the round-robin, the top 4 teams will be seeded from 1st-4th and advance to the semi-final, where 1st plays 4th and 2nd plays 3rd.  The winners will then meet up in the tournament championship.

There you have it!! Tournament day is all set.  We now know that The Dewskis will not play The Runs, Iron Pigs will not face Benchwarmers, The Man Hammers will not see Turtleheads and Pulp Fiction won't play The Murray Men during the round-robin portion of the day.  It is of course still a possibility that these teams meet up in the semi-finals or finals though.

The schedule, as determined by this draw, has been posted to the website under the Spring 2014 Schedule & Results tab.  The Dewskis and Iron Pigs will kick things off on the MCP field while The Murray Men and Turtleheads will play the first ever game on the POOL field to get the day started. 

Tournament action gets under way at 9am on Saturday, April 26th.

The pre-tournament rankings will begin to come out later this week as we count backward from #8 to the #1 ranked squad leading up to game day.
