Player Profiles

JOE GILL
A Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament Champion, Joe Gill is also a co-founder of the Mill Creek Park Wiffleball Tournament.  He comes to the tourney with a champions pedigree.  A 2 time champion of 'The Dew' wiffleball tournament, Gill is the type of player who can hurt you with the long ball as well as a timely base hit.  Notable on the mound for his looping, sinking curve, Joe has been known to post some impressive strike out numbers. His most recent stint in the SWBL, had him putting up 8 home runs, 15 RBI and 8K's over just 6 games. Currently playing for The Dewskis.

SEAN MCNAMARA
A Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament Champion, Sean is also the host and co-founder of the Mill Creek Park Wiffleball Tournament.  McNamara's backyard is home to Mill Creek Park, official home field of the SWBL (Solix WiffleBall League) and the Mill Creek Park Wiffleball Tournament.  Sean is also the co-founder of the SWBL, a wiffleball league formed in the fall of 2012.  The MVP of the SWBL in 2013, McNamra has a little bit of everything in his repertoire.  Over 2 seasons in the SWBL, Sean has put up very impressive numbers.  In 42 games, he has 41 HR, 128 RBI, and 63 K's.  Sean is also a 2 time champion of 'The Dew" wiffleball tournament. Currently playing for The Dewskis.  Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament Champion.
STEVE CASAVANT
Steve was a Runner-Up while playing for The Sharknados in the Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament.  He entered the tournament circuit as the co-founder of the SWBL(Solix WiffleBall League).  Steve is a tough competitor both at the plate and in the field. However it is on the mound where Casavant is most dangerous. A 2 year veteran of the SWBL, Steve brings with him a solid resume.  In his 38 games played over the last two seasons, he has recorded 18 homers, 52 RBI and 41 strikeouts.  Expect Casavant to again be difficult to play against as he teams up for Spring 2014 with Joe Reed.

ROB COOPER
Rob was a Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament Runner-up.  Mr. Cooper is a regular SWBL competitor and powerhouse with the SWBL.  During the 2012 season he put up 28 home runs, 71 RBI and 13 strikeouts in just 19 games.  2013 saw Rob's numbers drop off a bit as he compiled 9 HR, 31 RBI and 16 K's in the same number of games.  A dead pull hitter, Cooper has seen some of his power corralled in by the narrower dimensions at Mill Creek Park. Over the past season, Cooper has developed a nasty sampling of pitches making him a serious double threat.  Cooper will not be able to participate in the Spring 2014 games.

SAM DEMARCO
Sammy just completed is rookie season in the SWBL. In 2013 Sam struck for 12 home runs, 24 RBI, and 11 strikeouts while playing 12 games.  DeMarco brings with him a solid foundation for a all-around game.  He can hit for power as well as stroke that crippling opposite field base hit.  Always a sound fielder, Sam has continued to grow on the mound, showing greater signs of control late in the 2013 year.  Add to that an amazing performance in the Fall 2013 Tournament, expect Sam to make his presence known again in the Spring 2014 bash. Currently playing for The Murry Men.

CARL PARKER
Mr. Parker is a two year participant with the SWBL.  Carl's competitive drive is difficult to match.  While Parker's statistics over his 2 seasons don't jump off the page, with just 7 RBI in 10 games, Carl's hustle and will to improve is unrivaled.   His Fall 2013 Tournament was a slight disappointment, as he failed to pick up a win. Previously of Bald by Choice, Parker is unable to attend the Spring 2014 games.

BILL HOUSTON
A rookie going into the Fall 2013 Tournament, not much was expected from Mr. Houston.  Teaming with Carl Parker to form Bald by Choice, Bill gave an admirable performance. Bill is a member of the United States Coast Guard and Morris Plain Fire Department, so you can always expect that he will be prepared to play and will be bringing with him a desire to win.  Bill will not be able to participate in the Spring 2014 games.

 FABIO NIETO
Fabio has been with the SWBL since the inaugural 2012 season.  While he put up 10 games in 2012, Nieto was only able to participate in 2 contests in 2013.  For his career, Fabio has 14 home runs, 42 RBI and 5 K's, proving that he is a serious offensive threat. Averaging over a home run and 3.5 RBI per game, be careful how you pitch to him. Fab put in a solid performance in the Fall 2013 Tournament.  Fabio will again be playing for the Benchwarmers in Spring 2014.

ARVIND PATEL
Mr. Arvind Patel, AKA 'The Phoenix', 'APAT', 'Cancer', and 'Noodle Arm', is an SWBL legend. A loveable figure in both 2012 and 2013, Patel has always displayed an irrefutable enthusiasm for the game.  In 22 career games with the SWBL, Arvind has posted 1 homer, 15 RBI and 17 K's.  But its not just about the numbers with Patel.  Arvind will give his all, all the time, doing so with a smile no matter what the situation.  His unorthodox pitching motion is sure to cause even the most consistent sluggers some problems. His Fall 2013 Tourney ended in the semi-final round after a very solid performance. he will again be taking the field for Spring 2014 with the Benchwarmers.

STEVE BOTTIERI
Steve hails from Closter, NJ by way of Lodi.  Recently moved back to Jersey from the Napa Valley region of California.  Steve is a Jersey born and bread, tough nosed kid, although he may have softened up over the last 5 years spent in swanky wine country.  A multi varsity athlete in high school and a collegiate intramural champion, Steve showed in 2013 that he may be a better pitcher than hitter, with just 2 of his teams 24 RBI.  Expect him to be solid again defensively.  Currently playing for The Murry Men.

JOE REED
We first crossed paths with Mr. Reed as the talented yet hot-headed goalkeeper for the ADP soccer team.  Don't let the bulky frame fool you.  Coming from that goalkeeper background, Joe is undoubtedly quick and nimble.  He appeared in 3 contests in the SWBL 2013 season with just 1 RBI, 1K and a 1-2 record. While 2013 was just a very small look into his wiffleball abilities, its easy to see that the batting and fielding will come but its the pitching and control that will take that extra effort. Teamed up with Steve Casavant to for the Iron Pigs for the Spring 2014 Tournament.

GREG CRYSLER
A friend of tournament founder, Sean McNamara, Greg joins in on the wiffleball action for the first time for Spring 2014.  Having never played in any games at Mill Creek Park, Greg did put his hitting abilities on display during an informal batting practice held in late 2013.  Based on that, expect him to be solid at the plate.  As with most newcomers, the uncertainty lies in the pitching.  If he can master hitting the strikezone with consistency, Greg will definitely put in a solid day.  Teaming up with Tim Connors to form the Turtleheads in the Spring 2014 Tournament.

MATT FORMATO
Soon to be brother-in-law to tournament co-founder Joe Gill, Matt will be participating in his first wiffleball event in Spring 2014.  Matt joins on as a highly touted prospect.  Coming from an athletic background, Formato is know for unleashing some serious bombs on the softball field.  With power and speed, he can be expected to be a threat in this springs tournament.  He teams up with Nick Spindler for the Spring 2014 Tournament as The Man Hammers.

NICK SPINDLER
A friend to tournament co-founder Joe Gill, Nick jumps into the mix for his first look at some wiffleball action.  An accomplished high school athlete, nothing is know of his abilities on a wiffleball field.  Preliminary scouting reports have stated that good things can be expected from Mr. Spindler but we will have to wait until game day to see for sure. Nick joins forces with Matt Formato to make The Man Hammers in the Spring 2014 Tournament.

SCOTT MESLOH
Former roommate to both tournament founders Joe Gill and Sean McNamara, Scott is a wiffleball veteran.  A regular participant in the former 'The Dew' tournaments, Mesloh has also played in several of the big time tournaments throughout Morris County.  As patient as they come at the plate, Scott will often take a toll on a pitchers pitch count.  Throw in his speed and agility and you are looking at a very sold all around player.  Mesloh teams up with Terry Pfeifer to create The Runs for the Spring 2014 Tournament.

TERRY PFEIFER
Easily the most unknown participant in this cast of characters, Terry joins in on the action via Scott Mesloh.  Judging by the only known photo ever taken of Terry, he may or may not be an avid poker player. He is supposedly a co-worker of his teammate to be Scott Mesloh, but that can neither be confirmed nor denied.  I have heard that he is good a two things, drinking scotch and playing wiffleball, and he's out of scotch.  Terry makes up the other half of The Runs for the Spring 2014 Tournament.

MATT BYRNES
Matt joins in on the action as member of the SWBL.  Matt only played in 3 games in the 2013 SWBL season putting up 3 RBI and 2Ks with a 1-2 record. Known for his big bat on the softball diamond, we have yet to see if that an translate over to his wiffleball game.  A solid showing is still expected from him this spring.  Matt makes up the first member of Pulp Fiction for the Spring 2014 Tournament, while his teammate is still to be determined.

MIKE DEUSINGER
Mike jumps into the Spring 2014 Wiffleball Tournament as a last minute edition to the team Pulp Fiction.  Deusinger was overheard telling several tournament competitors that he is coming to win this thing.  A talented golfer, not much else is known about Mike's athletic talents.  Everyone will be anxious to see if his ball-striking ability can translate from a non-moving little white ball to a slightly larger curving one.

 PETER PABON
Peter gets in on the action as a member of new entry the Turtleheads. An alumni of St. John Vianney HS and West Virginia University, little else is know of the current Aberdeen, NJ resident.  Cousin to fellow teammate Greg Crysler, Peter will look to use the unknown to his advantage this spring.
