The #1 Ranked Squad

We have arrived!  Today we reveal the pre-tournament ranked #1.  All week we have been counting down from #5 to #1, ranking the teams prior to the Fall 2013 Mill Creek Park Tournament this Sunday November 3rd.  Today its time for the best. Recapping #5-#2, it was Bald By Choice in at #5,  Benchwarmers at #4, The Murry Men at #3 and at #2 The Dewskis.

Topping the rankings at #1 is The Sharknados.  Teammates and SWBL veterans Steve Casavant and Rob Cooper have bonded together through their love of killer shark spewing tornadoes.  However, its not the dastardly man eating phenomenon that should strike fear into the rest of the tournament field, its the pitching.  Its quite safe to say that there is not a better 1-2 pitching combination in this group.  Think 2013 Detriot Tigers, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander.  Cooper and Casavant can be that dominant. Over the course of the 2013 SWBL season, Rob Cooper developed one of the nastiest looping curveballs we have ever seen. Add to that a traditional slider, when coming from the left hand of Cooper, that proves to be nearly untouchable to right hand batters.  Follow that up with Casavant's side arm slider, that can either stay low or suddenly rise, but somehow consistently hits the strike zone.  Steve also has a knack for varying his speed and delivery which will keep batters off balance.  Thing is, they can both hurt you with the bat as well.  Rob Cooper is one of the greatest hitters in SWBL history and Steve Casavant is a solid threat in every at bat.  Between the two over 2 full SWBL seasons they have 55 HR and 157 RBI in 79 total games. That's no joke.  The pair offer the largest sample size of games played together but 2012 and 2013 tell two completely different stories. In 2012 they went 1-3 with 8 runs for and 27 against, however, in 2013 they were 3-1 with 10 runs for and 7 against. 2013 was a vast improvement and its also what really matters as they carry that into this Fall 2013 Tourney.  Notice has been served.

Tournament takes place this Sunday November 3rd, beginning at 9:00 AM and running all day. Tickets are free So feel free to stop buy and watch the festivities.
