The Murry Men bring us to #3. Made up of teammates Sam DeMarco and Steve Bottieri, The Murry Men are somewhat of an enigma. Mainly in the form of Mr. Bottieri. No one knows anything about him, other than he's Sam's recruit, was born in NJ, lived in Cali for a bit, and is apparently built for power. That's it, and that comes from his own teammates description of him. Built for power...what does that even mean? Can he hit? Or does he just throw large, heavy bags of flour up over his head? Supposedly, pitching could be his downfall, but again, we don't even know if that's true or not. What we do know is that Mr. DeMarco can play, and play well. As rookie of the year for the 2013 SWBL season, Sam compiled some impressive stats, that had he played just a few more games could of had him fighting for MVP status. In his 12 games played, Sammy put up 12 HR, 24 RBI and 11 K's. Sam was one of only 4 out of 15 players to post an above .500 record in 2013, going 8-4. Fact is, its basically DeMarco alone that gave The Murry Men the edge in grabbing the #3 raking going into the tourney. The Murry Men play in the opening game of the tournament against The Dewskis in what will definitely be a measuring stick game for The Murry Men.Halloween, will present us with the pre-tournament #2, so stay tuned as we make our way to Friday and our #1 side.
